Although Maryland is one of the smallest US states it is also one of the most densely populated. Snow fall varies greatly from the coastal regions to the mountainous areas from 9-100 inches per season. Winters are generally mild in most of the state but areas can receive extended cold spells. The combination of extended cold and the potential hundred inches of snow per season make Maryland very prone to ice dams on roofs. Maryland was hit very hard with a winter storm in 2014-2015 and it devastated a majority of the state. Property owners were scrambling to find companies qualified to remove ice dams from their roof.
